TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Schools and many state government offices remain closed in Oklahoma today as a deadly winter storm finally moved out of the state.
Bitterly cold temperatures were reported this morning with readings of 3 degrees in Clinton and at Vance Air Force Base in Enid to 25 degrees at Idabel in far southeastern Oklahoma.
The National Weather Service has canceled winter weather advisories after the final waves of sleet, snow and freezing rain moved out of the state last night.
Roadways remain slick with several closed because of accidents or downed trees and power lines.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Interstate 40 in eastern Oklahoma is treacherous. Various sections of the interstate was shut down several times during the night because of jackknifed semis.
Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City and Tulsa International Airport are open but a few flights to and from both airports have been canceled.
Oklahoma Gas and Electric reported just under 1,200 power outages in eastern Oklahoma this morning and nearly 1,800 more in western Arkansas.
