Car Strikes Tree Near Sperry, Killing Driver

SPERRY, OK --  The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a car accident that killed one person early Wednesday morning. 

A passing motorist on state Highway 11, just south of Sperry, spotted the car among a group of trees and called authorities. 

The Sperry Fire Department arrived to find a young man dead in the driver's seat. 

OHP troopers say sometime overnight the car, was heading north on Highway 11 when the driver veered off the road and drove straight into a tree. 

The state Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death.

The name of the driver has not yet been released.
