Details Scarce In Wagoner Co. Fatal Shooting

WAGONER COUNTY, OK - Police are still investigating Wednesday afternoon's deadly shooting in Wagoner County.

Sheriff's deputies say this appears to be a domestic dispute that turned deadly, but they're not saying much else.

Neighbors say one of the victims was an out-of-state solider visiting his girlfriend for the holidays and they say the shooter was her ex-boyfriend.

Neighbors say they can't believe that the holiday turned so violent in this quiet neighborhood.

"Yeah it was a little unnerving, especially being out here in a rural area, as close as it is," said Robert Lovett.

Wednesday afternoon, a man ran over to a nearby house asking for help. He had just been shot once in the face.

Two next-door neighbors say the man is a soldier stationed in Georgia. He was here on-leave visiting his girlfriend. That girlfriend was found shot to death in front of a house.

A few hours later, another man was found dead in a nearby field.

One neighbor says he recognized that man as the woman's ex-boyfriend.

The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office confirms that this appears to be a domestic dispute.

Neighbors say they're shocked that this happened.

"We've always felt like this was a safe, secluded area and a good place to live, and it is. Yes, this time of the year it is a little bit unnerving," said Lovett.

The solider was flown to a local hospital.

"This is all preliminary investigation over to Wagoner County Sheriff's Office, and they'll be more to come, more to follow," said OHP Lt. George Brown.

But, the sheriff's office is only saying, "the investigation is ongoing".

Residents are still in shock over the violence, just one day before Christmas.

The News On 6 spoke to the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office several times on the phone, they say they're not releasing any of the victim's names. But one of the next-door neighbors tells me the soldier's in good condition.
