TULSA, OK -- Generous Oklahomans have packed more than 11,000 shoeboxes for distribution to needy children in other countries.

The effort is called Operation Christmas Child and it's part of the ministry of Franklin Graham.  Monday was the last collection day for the boxes.  The ones from eastern Oklahoma will go to children in Mexico.

Students from Metro Christian Academy helped pack up the boxes.

"It's a neat way for kids and adults here in the states to be a blessing to children somewhere else in the world.  Most of the kids getting these boxes have never received a gift in their life," said Phil Blotevogel, Collection Center Coordinator.
