Man Dies In Mayes County House Fire

MAYES COUNTY -- The state Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a fire fatality in near Strang.

Strang Fire Chief Travis Fleming says their department responded to a structure fire at 11:40 p.m. Thursday on the west side of Hudson Lake in Mayes County.

By the time firefighters arrived on scene, flames were coming from the roof of the home.

After extinguishing the fire, Fleming says firefighters found the body of male, in his late 60's inside the home. His name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

Fleming says their department along with the state Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. He says at this point, there is nothing suspicious and they believe the fire was accidental.
