TULSA, OK - America Recycles Day is Saturday. Safely recycling old electronics helps preserve natural resources and reduces greenhouse gases.
Sony Electronics and Waste Management are hosting a free consumer electronics recycling event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, November 14 and Saturday November 15.
The event will be held at Video Revolution at 7030 S. Lewis Avenue in Tulsa.
You can drop off any brand of old electronics for safe recycling.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 82% of the 2.25 million tons of old TVs, cell phones and computer products generated in the last two years ended up in landfills.
By recycling old electronics products, useful materials - such as glass, plastic and metals - can be collected and re-used in the manufacture of other products.
America Recycles Day, on November 15, is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle and to buy recycled products. The purpose of America Recycles Day is to continue to promote the social, environmental and economic benefits of recycling and encourage more people to join the movement toward creating a better natural environment.
