BROKEN ARROW, OK -- Officers from 12 different departments are in Broken Arrow this week for a crash course. They're going through a week long traffic investigation program on how to handle pedestrian and bicycle crashes.
A team out of Florida is teaching them techniques that will help them investigate and reconstruct accident scenes.
After spending most of the week in a classroom, Thursday they got a visual lesson.
"The reason we're doing this is so that officers can see first-hand what it's like to witness this type of crash so they can observe the movements of the mannequin and the vehicles through these type of instances because we rarely witness this type of event occur," said Sgt. Bill Ferguson, Broken Arrow Traffic Specialist Unit.
It's the first time it's been offered in this area.
