It's a simple style that's made Oologah successful this season. Jordan Barrett throws touchdowns, Colten Barnes catches them.
"It's definitely a chemistry we've built over three years just knowing where each other's going to be at on the field," Barrett said.
"We've always started together and any time I've caught a ball, it's been from Jordan," Barnes said.
Both sport shaggy hair, one has a scraggly beard, but their play has been clean cut. Seven of Barrett's 11 passing touchdowns have been caught by Barnes.
"He's the type of receiver that wants the ball and wants the chance to make the big play," Barrett said. "If the first and second wide receivers aren't open I know where I'm going. I'll throw it up in the air and give him a chance to make a big play."
The hair-raising play has them hoping for a district and state championship...and maybe...a beard for Barnes.
"I don't know if he can grow one of these yet," Barrett said. "We both had to cut our hair for baseball and we decided it wasn't a very good idea so we just kept it long. It's the style I guess - I don't know."
"I can't grow a beard but if I could I'd probably grow one," Barnes said.
As the team grows, don't expect the hair to. After all, they don't want it to cramp their playing style.
"My mom will have to put an end to that one," Barrett said. " I got to keep it out of the eyes and all that good stuff."
