Union Triplets Inseparable

TULSA, OK -- Thomas Roberson's not used to being alone.  With the exception of breaking big plays, the junior wide receiver is constantly surrounded by teammates and his triplet brothers.

"I'm starting to break a couple big plays," said Roberson. "I'm just trying to do whatever I can to help the team win."

While brother Andrew runs cross country and track, Thomas and James have been virtually identical, playing football alongside each other since the third grade.

"Height, weight, they're going to do everything the same," said Union coach Kirk Fridrich. "They're going to score the same on tests and do the same in football."

"Me, James and Andrew are probably the closest brothers you'll ever find," said Thomas.  "We talk about everything together and we do everything together. We're a pretty close-knit family."

Opponents were seeing double until a few weeks ago when James injured his kidney against Muskogee - breaking the brothers apart.

"I'm so used to having him here and he's not here right now," said Thomas. "It's kind of weird and awkward."

"Those guys do everything together," said Fridrich. "They compete against one another and always want to one-up each other in whatever they're doing. I'm sure it's a struggle for (Thomas) but James is recovering and he'll be ready to go."
