TULSA, OK -- Thousands of children in Oklahoma live in poverty and have no health insurance. Many believe it's an issue that politicians often overlook when it comes to campaigning.
On Monday, The Parent Child Center of Tulsa along other groups across the state held events to make people aware of children's issues. It's something many hope will help get children on the political agenda.
"We're talking about the economy and prisons and roads and wars, but what we forget is that children's interests are extremely important for the country," said OU Tulsa Pediatrics Chair Dr. Robert Block.
The event was part of a national campaign to get political candidates to "Step Up For Kids."
