KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - One day after visitors were ordered off the Florida Keys, it's time for the residents to go as well.
The second phase of the evacuation is getting under way as Hurricane Ike continues on a path toward the U.S. Gulf Coast. The Keys could start feeling the storm's impact by tomorrow night.
The dangerous Category-4 storm, with winds of near 135 miles an hour, has been battering the Turks and Caicos (KAY'-kohs) island chain and part of the Bahamas. It's expected to be near eastern Cuba by tonight.
Residents of Key West were told to start leaving by 8 a.m. today. Other parts of the Keys are being evacuated later in the day.
But not everyone is leaving. The manager of the Rick's and Durty Harry's Entertainment Complex in Key West says a lot of people will be staying where they are until tomorrow to see where the storm will go.
