There are new developments in the controversy swirling around one of Green Country's largest school districts. Broken Arrow's school superintendent has filed a defamation lawsuit against three business people and three unnamed co-conspirators. News On 6 anchor Craig Day reports Dr. Jim Sisney claims he's the victim of a political vendetta.
Superintendent Dr. Jim Sisney says it all started when he raised questions about work done for the district without competitive bidding. And since then, he says, he feels like he's been attacked.
"I felt like I was in a lynch mob," said Dr. Jim Sisney.
The lawsuit filed by Broken Arrow's school superintendent names Mike and Narissa Rampey, owners of Air Assurance and Broken Arrow optometrist Douglas Hudkins as defendants. Plus, three unnamed co-conspirators.
"I have totally sat silent on this and not commented and allowed my name to be disparaged for many, many months," said Dr. Jim Sisney.
Sisney says controversy began brewing in the district when he questioned $77,000 worth of work by Air Assurance, that he says didn't go through the competitive bidding process.
The superintendent says he began an internal review of the district's procedures and then started to get pressure from several school board and community members.
"This has been the biggest conspiratorial mystery of my life," said Dr. Jim Sisney.
Sisney's defamation lawsuit says the defendants made false and malicious statements about him that are extreme and outrageous and go beyond all possible bounds of decency.
The owners of Air Assurance, Mike and Narissa Rampey were unable to respond on Wednesday, but will release a statement on Thursday.
The News On 6 hasn't heard back from Douglas Hudkins to get his comments.
