Car Tag Renewal Made Easy

TULSA, Okla. -- It's something all drivers count on having to do year after year: renewing their car tag. But, there's actually a way you can renew and avoid long lines at the tag agency.

Most people are busy and can't afford to waste time waiting in lines. It's something drivers have dealt with for years. But, they don't have to.

"Anybody that's doing a simple tag renewal, that annual tag renewal where you're just coming in to get your sticker, if it's straight forward should be able to do that online," said Lex Gaylord, Manager of Tulsa's Eastside Tag Agency.

That's right, you can actually avoid the hassle of visiting your area tag agency and simply go online to renew. Oklahoma has about 300 tag agencies and 28 offer the online service.

"Typically, any tag agency across the state is going to be very crowded and it allows you to do it online from the comfort of your own home," said Gaylord.

The ability to renew online has been around for several years, but many drivers don't even know about it.

"No. I did not, not until today," said Sherril Brandon of Tulsa.

Around 30 people register online per month at the Eastside Tag Agency , while hundreds take care of it in person. But, the times are changing.

"I'm sort of use to the old ways, coming into the office and getting it. But, since I know that everything is going to the Internet and to web pages, I certainly am for the upcoming years to start using different services like going online," said Brandon.

Renewing your car tag online takes about 10 minutes.

*Click here to get started at the Oklahoma Tag Agent website.
*Then, click on Motor Vehicle Registration.
*You'll get an entire list of participating tag agencies. Just choose which one you prefer.
*Then, select Online Tag Renewal. Here you'll enter some personal, vehicle and credit card information.
*Once you're done, hit submit.

*You'll then need to fax the tag agency your current insurance security verification form and you're done!
