A plan to build a new jail in Washington County may depend on zoning issues.
At issue is a site in Bartlesville that's already been rejected by the planning commission.
Washington County wants to bring a plan before voters to build a new $18 million jail. The current jail, located in the basement of the county courthouse is old, overcrowded and has been cited by health inspectors for deficiencies.
The Bartlesville City Council could decide as early as Monday evening to overturn the planning commission's denial to rezone more than 5 acres proposed for the county jail.
