Some people never completely retire; they always seem to have a project they need to focus on.
Tulsan, Lee Clark, lives in a retirement community, although, he's anything but retired. As News On 6's Rick Wells reports, his current project is going to make someone very happy.
It's a doll house. Some little girl is going to love it.
"I love working with wood, I always have," said Lee Clark, Doll House Builder.
Lee Clark lives at Broadmoor the Retirement Community in Tulsa. They've given him a little space in the activity room so he can work on his project.
This is his third or fourth doll house. The others he has given away as gifts.
"I always built things. I always like to put things together," said Clark.
And he likes the detail like the shingles on the roof. They come in little bags of 1000. The one he's building now has a big roof, so he bought two bags.
It comes with some furniture for the inside, but this is a grand old house so he's adding some grand old furniture.
"I bought a grand piano. Also a living room suite," said Clark.
He's going to add crown molding to all the rooms. And he has built a small miter box so he can cut the angles correctly.
I've never built anything like a doll house before, but I did find Lee and I have something very basic in common.
"The only time I read the directions is when all else fails," said Clark.
He works on it 4 to 8 hours a day. He figures in another month he'll have it finished. He likes being busy.
"When I do nothing, I never know when I'm through," said Clark.
So, there are a lot more doll houses ahead.
When the doll house is finished, Clark will give it to Broadmoor the Retirement Community to be auctioned off to raise money for the entertainment fund.
