Police Looking For Homicide Suspect

Police are still looking for a murder suspect who escaped an apartment Tulsa police officers surrounded for hours.  Authorities believe John Larkin shot and killed 27-year-old Jessie Hurt outside a Greenwood Avenue apartment around midnight Tuesday after a domestic disturbance.

A witness was able to give police information about Larkin which led them to his apartment, but after a nine hour standoff, no one was inside.

"We had several indicators that made us believe the suspect was inside. Obviously when you're talking a situation where a shooting has been involved, the person has shown that type of violence, you take all the necessary precautions to make sure your officers aren't injured or the public," said Tulsa Police Officer Jason Willingham.

Larkin is a convicted felon with multiple arrests for assault, one after attacking a police officer.
