A Tulsa family is begging for answers. Fred Wilson's family says they cannot get any peace until they find out who murdered him last month in a deadly home invasion. The News On 6's crime reporter Lori Fullbright reports the murder of Fred "Petia" Wilson remains unsolved. Adding to the misery for family and friends is that whoever killed him was someone he knew.
Wilson was the proud father of five-year-old Kennedy. His family says he was devoted to her and wanted to give her the father he never had.
"He did everything for his daughter, everything in his life revolved around Kennedy. He just wanted to be the best parent he could," said his sister Tasha Wilson.
Wilson was at home with his girlfriend on April 22nd, when men with masks broke in and demanded cash. He gave them some money, but they wanted more. The intruders got angry, tied up the couple, and then started searching. When they didn't find what they were looking for, the shot and killed Wilson.
His girlfriend escaped and called police.
Investigators believe it was someone who knew Wilson and knew he'd have a large amount of cash.
"It's horrible, just horrible having that feeling that somebody he knew did this to him and he's gone and they're out there just like it's a joke, like it's a game," said his sister Tasha Wilson.
Wilson's family admits he wasn't perfect, but he was family and his loss has caused them terrible grief. His mother, Sandra, still can hardly talk about his death. They wear T-shirts with his picture, as a constant reminder.
"To show that I do love my brother with all my heart and will never let go you go, will never forget," said his sister Tasha Wilson.
The one thing that would bring some peace of mind to his family is to have the case solved, to know the killers have been brought to justice.
"I hope it touches your heart. If you loved Petia, like you say, tell us, don't tell us, tell the detectives what you know," said Wilson's cousin, Sheena Hunter.
Tulsa County investigators are actively working on the case and will follow up on all leads. Information can be given to them anonymously and you could earn up to $1,000. A state law prevents you from ever being called to court and the money is given through a secret code system. The number for Crimestoppers is 596-COPS.
