With the economy the way it is these days, who doesn't like to find a good deal? A new website is making that easier to do in Green Country.
"I'm a stay at home mom. I've got five boys so I'm always looking for a good deal," said website creator, Sheri Bird.
Sheri Bird managed to somehow find time in her busy schedule to create what she believes Green Country needed. It's called TulsaMetroYardSales.com.
Sheri actually got this idea after her sister told her about a similar website that is very popular in Houston.
"There are almost a million people in this area and I have a house full of stuff. And I'm sure I have things that people can use and I'm sure you have things that I can use in my home. So, it's just a good place to bring buyers and sellers together," said Bird.
It's free to buy, sell, and post a yard sale. All you need is a username and a password and you're ready to begin.
If you see an item you like, you simply e-mail the seller. The transaction is completely between the buyer and seller. The website is just a forum for you to find what you're looking for.
"We don't really care about making money on it, we just want to have a place where people can go to find a good deal," said Bird. "Pretty much anything you're looking for will hopefully, eventually be on this site."
What if you're just looking for yard sales in Tulsa? Or, maybe you want to advertise your own without the hassle of posting signs around the community. TulsaMetroYardSales.com is the place to do just that!
There is also a flagging system in case there is anything inappropriate on the site. If something isn't right, it will be taken down.
Sheri compares the site to craigslist. But, you can refine your search to certain communities or search by category.
"It's just totally easy and a totally good way to get stuff," said Bird.
