A Tulsa eighth grader's worldly knowledge earns a trip to Washington D.C. to compete in the National Geography Bee Championship. Nicholas Vandivort, a student at Carver Middle School, took home the state championship title on Friday.

Both elementary and middle school students competed against each other in Norman at the University of Oklahoma.  Nicholas says he's looking forward to that time off from school.

"Oh yeah, free vacation, more time off school, maybe even some money in it. I'm definitely excited about it," said Vandivort.

The national winner will receive a $25,000 scholarship.
