Another concert booking was announced on Thursday while work continued to complete construction of Tulsa's BOK Center. The News On 6's Emory Bryan reports with the outside largely complete, most of the workers are inside and now it's moved from heavy construction to all the details that give a building its character.
There are 600 people working at the BOK Center, trying to finish up construction before the first concert.
"In the bowl, there's a lot of work going on, cleaning up the risers, getting them sealed, getting ready for the seats to come in," said Bart Boatright of Tulsa Vision Builders.
The seats will be installed next month. Right now, the railing on the aisles is going in. Some of the arena lighting is done, and outside the bowl, on the suite level, there is a constant flow of visitors, from media to VIPS.
"All of the suites and loge boxes are already gone, but from time to time one of the owners comes by and wants to take a peek and we abide that and let them see what's going on," said Rick Cole with Tulsa Vision Builders.
The 18,000 seat arena continues to attract top talent.
The latest booking is Rascal Flats for a concert September 25th. Arena management says it's a concert tour that in the past would have skipped right over Tulsa.
"And they've been looking for a while for a venue that can hold all of their show," said John Bolton of the BOK Center.
Now, some of the finishing touches are being done, such as the Terrazzo floors in the entrance, right by the escalators to the upper level.
Tickets for the Rascal Flats concert go on sale in another week, while management for the building says tickets are strong for the other events they've already announced.
The Rascal Flatts concert with special guest Taylor Swift will be September 25th and tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 12 at www.bokcenter.com.
Ticket prices are $69.50 and $49.50.
