Okmulgee County deputies are trying to figure out who is shooting at cars along Highway 75. The shooter struck three times in three weeks. No one has been hurt. But News on 6 anchor Latoya Silmon reports deputies fear the worst down the road.
The stretch of highway 75 in Okmulgee County is on Sheriff Eddy Rice's radar and it's not because of speeding.
"We just don't want the public injured," said Okmulgee County Sheriff Eddy Rice.
But he fears that's bound to happen if someone keeps shooting at cars along Highway 75. It's happened three times now between 211th and 221st.
"The first two we did not know that it was and we still don't know if it was an actual weapon that was use on these or not," said Sheriff Rice.
The impact shattered the side windows of the trucks. The third hit came three weeks later, deputies say the shooter may have upgraded to a small caliber gun.
"It's a dangerous situation," said Sheriff Rice.
Deputies say they have very little to go on, that's why they're searching nearby woods and going door-to-door to nearby businesses and homes.
"We're looking for anything," said Sheriff Rice.
Answers can't come quick enough for people like Cindy Repshur. She works along the stretch of highway where the attacks happened.
"It's very scary to think someone could be doing that all along the highway, especially with all the innocent people," said Repshur.
And she's urging the person responsible to think about them and her before striking again.
"I think we have enough problems going on with other things going on. Please don't hurt people. Please don't be shooting at cars," said Repshur.
Deputies are also urging people who travel along the stretch of road to stay alert.
If you have any information on the shootings call the Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office at 756-4311.
