Women from the Oklahoma Farm Bureau went grocery shopping to celebrate Food Check-Out Week. Not for themselves, they were spending two thousand dollars of their hard-earned money on groceries for families of seriously ill children at The Ronald McDonald House.
"It makes you feel great because you're sharing what the farmer does. Medical costs are outrageous and we want to help people," said Beverly Delmedico of the Bureaus Women's committee.
Glenda Love , Executive Director of The Ronald McDonald House counts on them every year.
"We depend on them immensely, every year they bring food, items that families can use for lunch or snack or dinner," said Love.
"We want things that are easy to fix so that they can get back to the hospital and be with their children," Beverly commented.
"They're incredible women, they're just wonderful. They think through the items that they bring us, and make sure they're items that can be prepared quickly," remarked Love.
Every year they bring the food, every year it disappears.
"I know one time we came in and set the bananas on the table and they we gone in a matter of minutes," laughs Beverly Delmedico.
"It's very special, I look forward to it, not only do I look forward to them bringing the food for the families, but I love the relationship I have with this group of women," admits Love.
