It's taken much longer than they had hoped, but Tulsa's oldest "scratch" bakery is once again open. A fire damaged Ann's Bakery last year, but it couldn't destroy the 70-year-old business.

The News On 6's Rick Wells reports, they are ready for weddings, Valentine's Day, and your morning cup of coffee.

Customers are beginning to find out Ann's Bakery is open again. It's been a year since a fire closed it down.

"The heat in here was so bad it just melted everything," said Mike Pollock with Ann's Bakery.

That was January 2007. So, for a year they've been repainting, remodeling, and repairing; it's like putting a puzzle back together.

"The only thing we are lacking right now is doughnuts and pies," said Sharon Pollock with Ann's Bakery.

It has taken much longer to reopen than they thought it would. Originally, it was only going to be a couple of months, then a few more weeks, and then maybe one more month.

Now, all the waiting is over and Ann's Bakery is taking wedding cake orders. They also have danishes and other pastries and they're ready for Valentine's Day

"We have this wonderful rose box cake," said Sharon Pollock.

Sharon Pollock said people have been leaving notes on the bakery door: "please open, I need my cinnamon rolls." Now, they can come in and get their favorites just like always.

Ann's Bakery is taking cake orders now, with doughnuts and pies ready to go early next week. Ann's is baking the cake for Six In The Morning's, "Wedding Whim." Shannon Pollock will be on Six In The Morning Thursday morning to talk about it.
