Governor Gives State Of The State Speech

The 2008 Oklahoma Legislature is in session.  Things kicked off on Monday morning with Governor Brad Henry's State of the State speech.  The Governor encouraged lawmakers to invest in education and new jobs.  He is also pushing a bond program to fund projects ranging from disaster aid to finishing the Native American Center and a new Supreme Court building. 

"What we do now will set the course for our future. It is time to build on the successes you and I have accomplished together during the past five years," said Governor Henry.

The governor also called on lawmakers to better fund the Department of Corrections, so it doesn't have to ask for emergency funding to pay its bills.
