A top junior college linebacker committed on Friday to play for OU next season.  J.R. Bryant from Garden City Community College told The Oklahoman about his decision to play for the Sooners.

Bryant is a former teammate of Sooner offensive tackle Phil Loadholt. He is 6-foot-3 and earned All-American honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association last season.

He will compete for the spot that was left vacant when junior Curtis Lofton decided he would enter the NFL Draft early.

Bryant cannot sign with the Sooners until Feb. 6.
