A man is under arrest in connection to missing Tulsa teenager Cori Baker. The News On 6's Chris Wright reports police say 18-year-old Marquis Bullock is the boyfriend of Cori Baker's older sister, Courtney. Police also say he was the last person she was seen alive with.
Cori Baker's family says when they first realized their daughter was missing, they suspected foul play. After all, Cori loved playing basketball for Union's seventh grade team, and had a big game Saturday morning. But when they talked to The News On 6 Monday night, they still held out hope she would return.
"Cori, we love you and need you to contact us immediately, and we will not ever stop looking. You need to do your part to get home," said Cori’s father Daniel Baker on Monday.
The first big break in the case came late Monday night with the arrest of 18-year-old Marquis Bullock on complaints of first degree murder and kidnapping. According to a TPD's report, Cori told fellow students and a teacher she would not be riding the bus home from Union Alternative on Friday. Instead, she was going to be picked up by her sister's boyfriend. Witnesses told police a black male matching Marquis Bullock's description did pick Cori up in a red Firebird. That was the last time anyone saw Cori.
Police say they've been working around the clock since Cori went missing.
"We're trying to utilize every resource available to make some progress on this case," Tulsa Police Sergeant Mike Huff said.
The report also says that Bullock, who lives in a South Tulsa apartment complex, may have pressured his girlfriend into providing his an alibi. Cori's older sister told police Bullock and his mother told her to say that she was with the suspect on Friday afternoon.
According to Tulsa Police, Bullock could not keep his story straight. The report says the 18-year-old also told police he spent Friday afternoon at the Creek Nation Casino. Bullock then claimed he had been at the adult club Escapades, said authorities.
