A seven-year-old is killed after falling off of her horse. The accident happened on Sunday at the Lightning C Arena in Pittsburg County. The News On 6’s Chris Wright reports Carson Hackler of Pittsburg County was the youngest of four girls, all of whom ride horses and rodeo.
The Lightning C Arena is a 67,000 square foot facility about eight miles east of McAlester. According to its website, the Lightning C was hosting a “Lil Buckaroo†event on Sunday afternoon. After the accident, the Pittsburg County Sheriff's Department says Carson was taken to McAlester Regional Medical Center, where she later died.
The arena's owner would not comment about the incident, except to say that it was a freak accident, and nobody's fault. Lightning C's website says among other events, the arena often hosts rodeos, barrel races, team roping and horse shows.
The family says that funeral arrangements for Carson have yet to be made.
