EL RENO, Okla. (AP) -- The attorney for a man charged with child neglect says his client regrets leaving his granddaughter inside a pickup truck while he gambled inside a casino. Kingfisher resident Douglas Gray was arraigned Thursday in Canadian County District Court on the neglect count and a charge of possession of methamphetamine in the presence of a minor.
Authorities allege a Jones man stole Gray's truck from the Lucky Star Casino parking lot with 3-year-old Alyssa Lopez sleeping inside early October 22nd. Alyssa was found unharmed in the abandoned vehicle.
Daniel Green faces a kidnapping and larceny of a vehicle charges in connection with the incident.
Gray's attorney, Dan Stake, said the 49-year-old admits he made a mistake and wants custody of the girl again.
The child is in state custody, but has since been placed with Gray's friends. Stake says Gray has been allowed to visit the child.
Gray was released $10,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court on November 15th.
