NEW YORK (AP) -- Chris Drury scored his first goal since opening night, and Henrik Lundqvist notched another shutout as the New York Rangers went on their first winning streak of the season by beating the Washington Capitals 2-0 on Thursday night.
Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves and has been a big reason why the punchless Rangers have had any success in the early going.
He has allowed 20 goals in playing all 12 games and already has three shutouts this season, 10 in his three-year NHL career. New York (5-6-1) has won two straight and is 3-1 on its six-game homestand despite scoring a league-low 21 times during the young season.
Henrik Lundqvist made back-to-back rapid fire saves late in the second period, and robbed Viktor Kozlov in the first with a big pad stop that had the Russian center shaking his head. The crowd chanted his name as the final seconds ticked off.
Michal Rozsival added a goal for the Rangers at 9:34 of the third period, 33 seconds into a 5-on-3 power play.
