LIMA, Ohio (AP) _ Two state colleges evacuated their shared campus in northwest Ohio and canceled classes Wednesday because of a telephoned bomb threat, a school official said.
Sheriff's deputies with bomb-sniffing dogs searched for possible explosives in the nine buildings shared by Rhodes State College and Ohio State University's regional site in Lima, said Rhodes State spokeswoman Jacque Daley-Perrin.
A caller told a campus switchboard operator that a bomb on campus would go off during the afternoon, but did not elaborate, Daley-Perrin said.
``In this day and age, we chose to evacuate our campus,'' she said.
About 3,500 students are enrolled at Rhodes State, which also holds classes in Ottawa and Kenton. About 1,200 are enrolled at the Ohio State Lima site.
Rhodes State is a two-year college specializing in technical training for business, education, health care and law enforcement.
