BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana University says its basketball coaching staff made dozens more calls to recruits than initially reported -- calls that may be impermissible under NCAA sanctions.
On Sunday, coach Kelvin Sampson said he unknowingly participated in three-way calls with recruits. The NCAA banned him from off-campus recruiting for one year in May 2006 for impermissible calls he made while at Oklahoma.
IU says the coaching staff made dozens of others potentially impermissible phone calls to recruits.
Cell phone records show many of the calls lasted one minute. Other calls made to a recruit's house might be OK if the calls were intended for the player's father, who doubles as his coach.
The calls are being reported to the NCAA.
