An inattentive driver causes an accident involving a Tulsa fire truck Saturday night. The accident happened about 11:30 p.m. Saturday near 58th and Memorial.

Police say a car failed to yield and clipped the fire truck. The driver then lost control of the car, ran off the road and hit a parked truck.

The driver of the car was taken to the hospital, but there’s no word on how badly that person was hurt. No one on board the fire truck was injured.

"We try to get the scenes that we go to in as safe as manner as possible, but the thing that we have to watch out for is other traffic that are out on the roadways,” said a Tulsa Police officer at the scene of the accident. “One of the things we want to be sure and stress is if you see an emergency vehicle with their lights and siren on, you have to stop in order for us to get to those scenes."

The firefighters were rushing to the scene of a hit and run that turned out to be nothing more than a fender-bender.
