OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Unemployment rates fell in all of Oklahoma's 77 counties in August, but three southeastern counties still had a jobless rate above the state average. The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission reported Tuesday that McCurtain County had the highest unemployment rate, 7.4% in August. The July rate was higher at 8.7%.
Coal County was second with a 6.6% jobless rate, down from 8.6% in July, but higher than the 5.4% rate in August 2006.
Hughes County came in third with a jobless rate of 6.5%, down from 8.4% in July, but slightly higher than the August 2006 rate of 6.3%.
Beckham and Ellis counties had the lowest unemployment rates, 2.7% in August.
