LAWTON, Okla. (AP) A state legislator and his family are mourning after the loss of his son in a Nevada traffic accident.

Clint McCarter was killed Sunday morning when his vehicle collided with a car driving south in the nortbound lanes of the Las Vegas Beltway.

Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Brett Bogdin says police had received a report of the woman driving the wrong way on the highway, but officers weren't able to reach her before the collision.

The 37-year-old McCarter is the son of Marlow state Representative Ray McCarter.

Clint McCarter had moved to Las Vegas in May to work as a teacher.

Before that, Clint McCarter coached football in Duncan, Marlow, Clinton, Pauls Valley and Oklahoma City Southeast High School.
