Young Girl Hit By Car And Dies

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A 7-year-old girl hit by a car while trying to cross a busy, four-lane street in northwest Oklahoma City has died. Oklahoma City Police Sergeant Kevin Barnes says the driver of the car stopped to help and was not cited for wrongdoing. Police have not released the name of the girl or the driver.

Barnes says the accident happened about 8:45 p.m. Saturday when the girl and several friends were attempting to cross Portland Avenue at Northwest 33rd Street from Will Rogers Park.

Barnes says the girl was the last of a group of children crossing the street and may have been trying to catch up to the group.
