SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) -- Several dozen registered sex offenders in Tulsa County will soon have to move from a cluster of motels where they're living. The city of Sapulpa is buying a half acre near the motels and will turn it into a city park.
State law prohibits sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of a park and the land is within that distance.
Sapulpa Police say about 60 registered sex offenders are living in the motels and Sapulpa City Manager Tom DeArman says they'll be told to move when the park opens.
He says the park is expected to open by November 1st.
