One woman was killed and another injured following a high speed crash in Sapulpa late Saturday night. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a part in the deadly crash. A trooper on the scene told The News On 6 that the driver was going way too fast, went off the road and crashed.
The trooper's report says 36-year-old Melody Hawkins of Tulsa, hit a fence, then a tree, rolled a couple of times, and landed on another fence.
OHP troopers tell the News On 6 that neither Hawkins, nor her passenger, 40-year-old Kelli Keener of Sapulpa, were wearing their seat belts. Both were ejected from the SUV.
Hawkins was taken to a Tulsa hospital where she later died. Keener was also rushed to a Tulsa hospital with injuries to her head and chest area.
