STROUD, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers making a routine traffic stop along Interstate 44 on Friday discovered more than a half-ton of marijuana in a vehicle, OHP spokesman Captain Chris West said.

West said troopers stopped the driver of a motor home heading eastbound on the Turner Turnpike near Stroud. Upon examining the vehicle, troopers found 1,087 pounds of marijuana, West said.

He declined to release more details about the incident, saying it remains under investigation.
