Bodean Seafood Temporarily Closing Its Doors

It has been a Tulsa favorite for decades but now Bodean Seafood at 51st and Harvard is closing its kitchen. News On 6 anchor Latoya Silmon reports that this Sundayâ€™s dinner will not be the last, because the restaurant is not packing up for good.

For 40 years it has been the home of savory seafood.

â€œThe king crab and the lobster tails are really good,â€ said customer Joseph Ault.

But Bodean Seafood is known for more than what is on its menu.

â€œHad a lot of good times here,â€ Ault said. â€œMet a lot of good people. It's been a good place."

But now his favorite place is moving and taking some down memory lane.

â€œPeople are coming in and reliving memories,â€ Bodeanâ€™s Executive Chef Tim Richards said. â€œLot's of first dates and anniversaries and things like that have taken place here.â€

But all is not lost, regulars can build new memories at Bodean Seafoodâ€™s new location, and they won't have to travel far. Bodean Seafood is crossing the street to make room for the I-44 widening project.

â€œYou know she's been a cruel mistress so were nostalgic but not sad,â€ Richards said. â€œAnytime I need any perspective on that all I need to do is go across the street and look at the shiny new kitchen with brand new stuff that's not going to break down every other day.â€

Regulars are looking forward to the move as well.

â€œIt's beautiful state of the art, absolutely gorgeous, it's a great restaurant,â€ said Ault.

A restaurant that hopes to cook up memories and great food for 40 more years Bodean Seafood plans to open in its new location, across the street on September 14.
