MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- A suspected serial killer from Oklahoma who's on death row in Alabama has lost an appeal of his murder conviction.

Jeremy Jones of Miami was convicted and sentenced to death in 2005 for the rape and murder of Lisa Nichols in Mobile County, Alabama.

The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals says it found no trial error to reverse Jones' conviction and that the death sentence is neither "disproportionate nor excessive."

Jones has also been a suspect in the December 1999 killings of Danny and Kathy Freeman of Welch and the disappearance of their daughter Ashley and her friend Lauria Bible. He's also a suspect in the 1996 killings of David Oakley and Doris Harris in Afton and the 1999 death of Justin Hutchings of Picher.

He was also charged in the deaths of a 16-year-old Georgia girl and a woman in New Orleans.
