OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The number of people traveling during the Labor Day holiday this weekend is expected to be up slightly from last year. AAA Oklahoma estimates 399,000 Oklahomans will travel at least 50 miles from home. That's an increase of 1 1/2% from last year.
AAA predicts more than 34.5 million Americans will be traveling nationwide.
Drivers will be seeing an increase in the cost of gas over recent weeks. The statewide average for a gallon of self-serve regular is $2.84 per gallon in Oklahoma.
That's three cents lower than a month ago but three cents per gallon higher than yesterday and 13 cents per gallon more than Labor Day weekend last year.
The nationwide average is $2.76 per gallon.
