LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- A Houston-based oil and gas distribution company agrees to pay a civil penalty for allegedly discharging jet fuel, gasoline and crude oil into waterways in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
A news release from the U.S. Department of Justice identified the firms involved as TE Products Pipeline Company LLC and TEPPCO Crude Pipeline LLC, together known as TEPPCO.
TEPPCO also agreed to make $2.6 million in improvements to its pipeline systems.
According to the complaint, TEPPCO was responsible for discharging 500 barrels of unleaded gasoline into a tributary of Moro Creek, which flows into the Ouachita River in Arkansas.
The company was also accused of discharges of other petroleum products at two sites in Texas and one site in Oklahoma.
