NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- School officials in Norman and McAlester are adopting stricter dress codes for the coming school year. In Norman, students won't be allowed to wear any kind of head gear including hats, bandanas or stocking caps. Also on the prohibited list are halter tops, off-the-shoulder tops, spaghetti straps and revealing clothing such as short skirts, tops exposing cleavage and backless shirts.
In McAlester, pants must not show the torso, back or undergarments and shirts and blouses must be buttoned and can't expose the midriff when arms are raised. Students also can't wear shoes which have wheels in the soles and hair color that's "not normally found in nature" is banned.
Classes start Thursday in McAlester and August 20th in Norman.
