Special training this week by the Tulsa Fire Department is teaching firefighters how to save themselves if they are trapped in a dark, fire-filled home or building. The exercise was in a downtown Tulsa building where crews practiced everything from conserving oxygen to facing the collapse of a floor.
"Everything changes when you're inside a burning home. It's not like the movies, you can't see, it's complete darkness, you have to do everything by feel. So it's easy for someone to become trapped and disoriented," says Tulsa Fire Captain Larry Bowles.
About half of Tulsa's fire crews have completed the training so far this week.
