NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma coach Sherri Coale begins her two-year term as president of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Wednesday by overseeing the group's annual summer meetings.

Coale, who was the association's vice president for the past two years, takes over for DePaul coach Doug Bruno. She'll be succeeded by Connecticut coach Geno Auriemma, the current vice president, in August 2009.

Terri Mitchell of Marquette will be the group's treasurer.

In her new position, Coale has appointed Tom Collen of Arkansas to oversee male coaches of women's basketball and named new members to the group's board of directors. The WBCA summer meetings conclude tomorrow in Atlanta.

Coale is 232-118 in 11 seasons at Oklahoma, including 59-10 since All-America center Courtney Paris arrived on campus two seasons ago.

She received a $250,000 raise in June as part of a contract extension intended to keep her as the Sooners' coach through 2017.
