The heavier activity with rain showers and small hail has been concentrated across parts of West Virginia, as well as southwestern Virginia and eastern Tennessee. Blackburg, Virginia and Dublin, Virginia were both reporting moderate to occasionally heavy rain. Rainfall amounts have generally been under a quarter inch. Further south, scattered showers and thunderstorms developed in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and migrate eastward into Florida. Most of the heavier activity was offshore during the late morning hours into the midday; however, during the afternoon hours thunderstorms flared up again with small hail, brief heavy downpours, and strong gusty winds. A tornado was even reported by law enforcement outside Northport, Florida. Meanwhile, the remainder of the Southeast featured generally fair and dry weather through the morning with a few isolated showers popping up in the afternoon hours. The East Coast has also featured fair and dry weather. Finally, in New England, skies have been partly cloudy to fair with dry weather reported this afternoon. In the nation's midsection, a complex of showers and thunderstorms that developed in North Dakota during the morning hours has since weakened and pushed into Minnesota. Detroit Lakes, Minnesota reported light rain with under a tenth of an inch in the area. Rainfall amounts from this morning across North Dakota ranged from a tenth to a quarter inch. To the south, a complex of showers and embedded thunderstorms dropped southward across west-central Texas. Junction, Texas reported moderate rain. Other scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms gradually dissipated across southern Texas late this morning. A few light rain showers remain, however. Common rainfall amounts in the area were between a tenth and a half of an inch; however, amounts in the San Antonio area have approached two inches in some spots. Otherwise, the remainder of the region, including the western Great Lakes, Upper Midwest, Central Plains, and much of the Mississippi River Valley featured partly cloudy to fair skies and dry conditions. In the West, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms continued across parts of the Intermountain West through the day. Radar indicated generally scattered light rain showers extending from parts of western Montana down into Arizona and far southwestern California. Grand Canyon and Kingman in Arizona reported rain showers; although, most rainfall amounts have been light. Even so, numerous reports of flash flooding have cropped up in the Arizona region with Page, Carefree, and Peach Springs; Arizona all reporting flash floods due to afternoon showers. Along with quick downpours, numerous reports of high winds have also been reported from dying thunderstorms with places such as Sierra Vista, Arizona reporting a fifty two mile-per-hour wind gust and an unofficial seventy mile-per-hour wind gust reported in Florence, Arizona. Meanwhile, areas from eastern Montana southward into Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico have all been generally fair and dry. The Pacific Northwest has also featured dry weather under partly sunny skies late this morning.
