A Tulsa man is honored for saving his neighbor from the jaws of a vicious dog. The Tulsa Police Department honored Michael Cook Tuesday for saving his neighbor, Marvin Battle.
Marvin was walking his two dogs on April 25th when a Pit Bull suddenly attacked him, killing one of his dogs and severely injuring the other. Cook heard the commotion from his house that’s when he grabbed his gun, went outside and shot and killed the Pit Bull.
Despite saving Marvin's life Cook says he doesn't feel like a hero.
“It just worked out that the dog was attacking him and I was there, that's pretty much, ya know, it,†said good samaritan Michael Cook. “As far as being a hero, Marvin's the hero for fighting that dog off for such a long time.â€
Battle had to get 22 stitches in his leg because of the attack. He says he still has nightmares but feels lucky just to be alive.
