It’s being called the luckiest day of the century. July 7, 2007, or 07/07/07, only comes around once every 100 hundred years. The News On 6’s Joshua Brakhage reports on the ways Green Country is counting on good fortune.
"This Saturday at Jim Glover Chevrolet is the luckiest day of the luckiest month of the luckiest year ever! It's our 7-7-7 sales event," said Kristin Glover of Jim Glover Chevrolet.
Car dealerships are bringing in balloons, burgers, even a dunk tank for the big day. But no one's going all out like the casinos. The Cherokee Nation's David Stewart says there's not a single empty room at their Catoosa resort.
"Everyone's looking for a reason and this is it," said Cherokee Nation Enterprises CEO David Stuart.
There are no guarantees anyone will hit it big, but Pamela Robinson likes her odds.
"Seven, seven, seven, those are my lucky numbers," gambler Pamela Robinson said.
She has her own lucky superstitions when she's playing the slots, like talking to the machines.
"Come on girl, line 'em up for me, come on girl, line 'em up," said Robinson.
She hopes all they're doing Saturday is calling her a winner, but bakeries have already hit the jackpot.
"Oh, we're swamped. We have over 100 cakes to get out tomorrow," Diana Cortez of Signature Cakes said.
Many of those are wedding cakes for couples hoping for lasting luck on the road to married bliss.
"Half of Tulsa's getting married tomorrow," said Cortez.
In the end, all this luck may be a wash. Saturday may be 07/07/07, but next week is Friday the 13th.
