Two juveniles are recovering after being shot in the legs overnight in Tulsa. It happened about 12:45 a.m. near 54th and Frankfort.
Tulsa Police say there were several people shooting fireworks in the street when police arrived. Police officers say no one noticed anything unusual because of the noise from the fireworks. An 11-year-old boy, standing in front of his house, told police he had been shot. The boy was transported to a Tulsa hospital by EMSA for a leg injury.
A block away, a 15-year old boy was also shot in the leg. He too was taken to a Tulsa hospital.
Tulsa Police are trying to determine if the juveniles were the intended targets. “Clearly it doesn't appear that the 11-year-old was any type of target of anyone. He was quite a bit down the street from the other person, the other juvenile that was hit. And I don't know if they were intended targets or if these were just stray rounds that were being fired that they were hit with,†said Tulsa Police Captain Steve Bayles.
Police say both bullets are from the same gun.
The boys' injuries are not considered life threatening.
