A Claremore woman is killed in her apartment Monday morning. Now, her ex-boyfriend is being charged with murder. The woman's family told News On 6 anchor Jennifer Loren she had broken up with the suspect and was trying to get herself and their child away from him. She reports according to police he got to her anyway.

Twenty-one year old Autumn Collins was a new mother who lived in an apartment next door to her parent’s home in Claremore. Her family says she was trying to turn over a new leaf.

"She was a good person. She was trying real hard to get on her feet," said Greyson, Autumn’s relative. “After she had a baby her life changed. She became a whole different person. She had a better job; she was just doing really good for herself

Her family, as you can imagine, is devastated. They say Autumn was trying to get out of an abusive relationship with her baby's father, 24-year-old Cory Hall.

"He was bipolar pretty bad. I mean one minute he'd be okay and the next minute he was pretty hateful and everything," Greyson said.

Hall is now charged with Autumns murder. Police say he admitted he killed her after a string of unusual events.

The investigation began when a passerby stopped police and said they saw a man running down the street covered in blood. Minutes later police got a call from Hall's mothers house, where they arrested him. He then led police to an apartment where officers found Autumn dead, with several stab wounds, and their baby was alive and well in the next room.

"It was disturbing to the officers, but they responded professionally, maintained their professionalism, ensured that the infant was safe and that the crime scene was established and maintained as it needed to be," Claremore Assistant Police Chief Stan Brown said.

As family members focus on the baby's health, they say Autumn would have a message for other women in potentially abusive relationships.

"She'd want every girl and female to know that if you're in a situation like this to get out of it," said Greyson.

The baby was not injured at all, but was taken into protective custody. Police say there will be a hearing before she's possibly released to other family members.

Investigators say even though their suspect is behind bars, they still want anyone with information about this case to call them at 918-341-1212.
